Arthritis is Canada’s second most costly illness
at 9 billion dollar cost per annum and is the number 1
cause of long term disability in Canada. Arthritis is also
the third most common reason why people use prescription
drugs.
Drug companies state that less than 200 million dollars
worth of medication can replace thousands of dollars in
cost of surgeries. Neither option seems desireable.
Low Intensity Laser Therapy, at a
fraction of the cost for medications and surgery,
can control and/or cure this disease without any
negative side effects. LILT is by far the most
ideal therapy in dealing with this vast disease
problem. Most importantly it allows the patient
to be active and improves their quality of life.
What
is arthritis?
The
most commom forms of arthritis are rheumatoid
arthritis and osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis,
also referred to as degenerative joint disease,
is a degenerative process caused by the wearing
away of cartilage. This destruction of tissue
causes the two bone surfaces to come in contact
with each other. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused
by inflammation of the membrane which surround
each joint. It is often associated with pain and
swelling in one or more joints.
Exercise
is recommended for individuals with arthritis
to help preserve muscle strength and joint mobility,
relieve pain and stiffness, but should not be
done during an arthritic flare-up.
Improvement
of function and relief from pain are our ultimate
goals for you.
